Baby Blessing

We finally blessed Halle last Sunday. Not yesterday, the one before, yes when we had the huge storm! We did it at our house, and just invited family. I want to thank everyone for coming and daring the weather. It was so snowy our ward almost canceled church!

I also want to thank Denille, Russ's mom, for making Halle's beautiful blessing dress. It was absolutely gorgeous! Even down to the lace trim on the slip! Denille you are amazing! Thanks to everyone for bringing food, chairs, treats, but mostly for bringing yourself.

Russ did an awesome job! The blessing was very touching, and the words that stand out to me are, "peace, joy and goodness." He is a great Dad, and Halle and I are very lucky to have him in our lives! Anyway it was so fun to have everyone over, here are some pictures.

p.s. Halle was so tired, she didn't make a peep during the blessing, but afterward she cried the whole time. :(

I think I live in the North Pole!

I don't think me just telling you how snowy it is where I live can do it justice, so I have some pictures. I have pictures from last Sunday, which I thought were crazy, and then I took some yesterday which were even crazier! We love it though, it isn't fake winter, it is real!

this is looking out our front porch last week.

This is the same view this week.

This is out the back door last week.

This is out the back door this week!

This is last week, we have garbage pick up on monday morning, so we put our garbage cans out sunday night. This is what they looked like in the morning.

President Hinckley Tribute

My cute husband has given president Hinckley a wonderful tribute by putting all of Pres. Hinckley's talks from General Conference, while he was the prophet, on his blog. So if you would like to check them out all in one place, you can click here.

Eat. Rice. Good.

I didn't want to go to sleep. I cried and cried. Mom then said to dad "I think she might be hungry and can't get enough milk right now." Bring on the "real food."

It's all coming back to me now . . .

So my dearest Halle can pull her binky out, no biggy except for when we are in the car and she is tired, that is the only time she can get cranky. My tried and true method of calming her is singing to her. The Christmas songs were so great because i knew the words, and they were pretty soothing. The other day we were almost home and Halle pulled her binky out, started getting fussy and so i turned the radio dial to find something i could sing along with. then i heard it, Celine Deon's ("Salon Dalon" - for you laura)"It's all coming back to me now." Incredible rocking out tune

I was totally rocking out, and i am not sure if my what calms Halle is my voice or if she is trying to fall asleep so she can't hear me? but it works every time.

I wanted to blog about it because it made me think about my highschool girls and the good times we had rockin' out to Celine Deon!

P.S. I Loved It!

So Russ and I went with our friend's the Larkins to movies tonight. The boys went and saw "I am Legend" and the girls went and saw "P.S. I Love You". It was such a cute movie. I recommend you go see it. The previews/ commercials for it don't do it justice. I would start crying one moment and then laugh the next. It tugged at my heart strings!
Has anyone else seen it?

I've Been Tagged

The rules . . . 1. you post 6 facts/habits about yourself 2. you tag 6 more people.

1. The only TV show I watch everyday (well when I am home to watch it) is TLC's "What Not To Wear" I love the host's Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, hilarious, and I absolutely love to see ugly people become beautiful and have more confidence in themselves just from buying new clothes and getting a makeover.

2. I have naturally curly hair and I love it.

3. It is really hard for me to go shopping without my husband, he is the best shopping buddy. He tells me honestly if he likes something or not. He has literally told me that the pants I was trying on made my butt look big. Oh yes, my husband is the best because I know when he really likes something, and that I should get it.

4. I am a "movie watcher overer" (yes and I also make up words). I have a select few movies that I can put in any time, any day, anywhere and love it every time. Examples, "Clue", "What's Up Doc", "The Mummy." I totally get it from my mom.

5. I hate green peppers, and Horseradish but I will pretty much eat anything else.

6. I am obsessed with my parent's cabin and think about going there all the time. (I haven't been since Halle was born, so I am totally going through withdrawals!)

I really feel funny about tagging people, so if you can't think of anything to blog, just say you've been tagged.

We Are Marshall

So the other day Russ and I watched the movie "We Are Marshall." The movie is about the Marshall University football team that all died in a plane crash, only a few thousand feet away from their hometown airport runway. It was a good movie, sad but touching. It just made me think about something that I wanted to share.

I am sure that when the plane crashed, a lot of people asked why god could let that happen to all of those people. I am sure it made people question if there is a god. It made me think of how I do believe in god, and it is situations like this that make me know there is a god. I believe that the emotions we experience during the hard times in our lives are what make us closer to god. They make our personalities more colorful, deeper richer. If nothing bad ever happened then nothing good could happen either. Our growth would be so stunted. It is the sadness, heartache, failure, pain, suffering that we go through that make the joy, successes, love, and happiness in our lives even sweeter.

I hope this made sense, it was just something I have been thinking about since watching the movie.

A Little Tribute

Russell how much do I love thee . . . let me count the ways . . .
1. you have a rockin' hot bod!
Just kidding, I really do love you, i mean really love you more than i can say on this blog post, so I am just going to post some pictures of some great memories!

30 Years Old!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUSSELL!!!
Today Russ turned 30. You would never guess that was his age if you saw him in person, not that it is old, but he is just such a kid at heart and has such a young spirit about him, that he doesn't look his age.
On monday I threw a little surprise party for him, with the help of our good friend Ian it was pretty successful. The only thing that might have gone better was the accidental text message I sent to him instead of going to Mike the guys who's house we had it at. yes, I totally botched the surprise. I literally cried for 5 minutes, and then realized I couldn't do anything about it, but put a smile on my face and just let it go.
Russ was still impressed that we got so many people to come, I just told him it is only because you have so many friends and they would all do anything for you. It was so great because both of our families were there, old friends, new friends, it was so fun!
Here are some pics from the party.

the boys!

Lani, Kevin (some guy i don't know) RussThe Larkins

Russ's awesome family, I love you guys!
P.S. it was a crazy sweater theme, Stephen and Alex were the only two that got into it.

I need to apologize

So I need to apologize. First to my wonderful daughter Halle, whom I love more than I can say, and second to all of you who I tried to scare away from having babies. I shouldn't have talked to anyone before I was out of the "I'm crazy" stage. I think I made having a baby sound like the worst thing in the world, which I have come to realize couldn't be further from the truth.

Although it is the hardest thing I have ever done, it is also the most wonderful thing, besides my husband, that I have ever experienced. I just needed someone to tell me that after the first 2-3 weeks, you will feel more normal and you will figure things out, and understand your baby better. I also needed to realize that my life would never be the same, and that is ok. It took me a while to stop being selfish and realize that I love my baby and she loves me, and needs me.

Being a mom is truly wonderful and I can't get enough of my Halle! She has been smiling and cooing so much lately, it is so fun.

So sorry Halle for making you sound so bad, and sorry everyone for scaring you.

P.S. If you want to see all of the pictures from Halle's photo shoot go to this link

A little hint

Hi girls, this is Russ.

I asked Lacey if I could make a quick blog post when I noticed she had a link on her blog that said "Mod Mum Baby Slings." You know, Allison's baby sling business?

I work in marketing, and the Internet is one place I focus, so I thought I would show you all how you can help Allison's business online by using your blogs. If you link to her site from your blog, you should also use the word "Baby Sling" at the end of ModMum when you make a link. Like this ModMum Baby Slings. It's one tiny trick of hundreds, but this will help increase the chances of her site ranking better in the search engines when expecting moms start researching baby slings.

Link away.

Project

So my sisters and I have decided to get together once a month, or at least as often as we can and do a little project and a meal. Our first little get together we went to Color Me Mine, we actually did it the day before I started contractions. Anyway, this month we made these frames, it was is always fun to be with the sister's and being crafty.

Halloween & Birthday

Thanks Russ. He took me to The Roof for dinner. My mom watched Halle. It was the first time Russ and I had been alone together since Halle was born. We actually both missed Halle more than we thought, and were only out for a couple hours. It was nice to be alone though.

I know it is a little late for halloween, but time is really going by fast! We had a fun night with our friends the Larkins and their family. We ate soup and went trick-or-treating with their daughter Claire. Halle slept through most of it, but she was a good girl.
